FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions.
Since the 1980s’, FHI has worked closely with both the public and private sector stakeholders in economic development, preventive healthcare, family planning and nutrition; and civil societies.
To further promote its efforts at monitoring and evaluation, FHI partnered with Hubtel to send SMS reminders to its HIV groups on medication times, tips on nutrition and appointment reminders.
By understanding its various groups, the organization created customized bulk SMS campaign that engaged members daily, weekly and monthly.
Impact on business
“I sometimes forget to take my medicine but these messages are serving as very reliable reminders… These messages are my second ‘Nyame’ (Lord)”
“Most of my group members do not have access to radio and clocks, these messages enable us to take our drugs on time, we also use the buddy system (“Baanu Ye”) to inform others.”
Hubtel helps foster peace and harmony among families and communities.
FHI needed a way to send member of its various communities/groups reminders on medication, tips on family planning, announcements and general information needed to support it’s field workers. This alert system also had to be extremely budget-friendly.
